JJ Abrams- JJ is a great choice for this role, having proven time and time again that he can handle massive stories with well woven back stories and keep everyone engaged. He has also proven several times that he is willing to stick to his guns and his wierdness to keep things interesting, not always relying on the easy formulas.

Harrison Ford- Han Solo (In Negotiations)- He has expressed an interest in returning for the role and and supposedly in negotiations.

Carrie Fischer- Leia Solo (Has Been Approached)- Has expressed a great interest in returning for the role, and of the 3 currently needs it the most.

Mark Hamill- Luke Skywalker (Has Been Approached)- Has expressed great interest in doing the movie. He claims that when approached by George Lucas, he was offered the role and was told that if he wouldn’t do it they wouldnt be recast, the would be written out.

Billy Dee Williams- Lando Calrissian (Rumored)- Early rumors of the movie claimed that Lando would be. He is still a very active character in the novels and the actor has never shied from referencing Lando in tv cameos. He has now been said that he would like to play Lando as long as he’s still alive.

Sam Witwer (Campaigning for a role)- Now here is a guy that has been great for Star Wars thus far. Between being the most bad ass force user ever (If you don’t know what I’m talking about, you haven’t played Force Unleashed, and hence should slap yourself and go grab a copy), voicing Darth Maul and Palpatine, and a great run on both Battlestar Galactica and his current hit Being Human. He has really shown that he can hit a broad range of characters and emotions and can do it in a way that really connects with the audience. One problem he may face in joining Ep VII is the fact that he is already the face of Galen Marek and hence would really need to look and feel different than his previous role. With that said though, I think that Galen is a great character that I could easily see having some form of Spinoff, not to mention the fact that Force Unleashed III hasn’t been made yet and would be a great tie in. Another thing that is interesting to consider about his involvement is that he claims to have known about the fact they were making Episode VII for a very long time. Claiming to have known since last year. He is a passionate Star Wars fan through and through and I love the idea of someone like that getting to opportunity to help take Star Wars into a new Era.

Chloe Moretz (Unconfirmed)- Supposedly multiple directors have been pushing for her to get a main role in the film. She is an exceptional actress for her age (16) and has displayed impressive fighting skills in the film Kickass. She could be a good age to play Han and Leia’s granddaughter Allana Djo Solo or even be the evil love interest Vestara Khai!

Simon Pegg (Claims no involvement)- Though there were some rumors of Simon Pegg being attached to a Star Wars film, he has recently shot down the rumors. We shouldn’t be surprised if this is a lie though. JJ Abrams claimed that he turned down the gig before confirming that he had it. Simon voices Dengar on the Clone Wars cartoon show and is a known Star Wars nerd. There has been talk of a young Han Solo movie or a Boba Fett movie (could easily be one movie together, if that’s the case he could play a younger Dengar and really make the character awesome for once.

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson- He has now starred in several successful movies, and is the current WWE Champion. This giant makes Vin Diesel look like he needs to hit the gym and grow a couple feet taller. Though there are no rumors about decisions or even interest to cast him, The Rock has been saying in several interviews that it would be a life long dream to be in the new Star Wars movies, and would be open to almost any role.
